Musical Settings of Poems About the Sea

In this set of songs, each gives a different view and attitude of a sailor—or sailors in general—toward the pull, the allure, the livelihood of the sea.
Three well-known poems from a few eras past provide the text, and each of the poets have a fascinating life-story to tell: Allan Cunningham, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and John Masefield. Except for Longfellow, they had lived the life of the sea, but anyone from those years now distant past who travelled internationally did so partly by sailing ship and experienced something of the power and the temptations of the sea.
