These settings for City Faces, originated with the duet for viola and cello. It is formidable from a stamina perspective, especially for the cello, and perhaps initially challenging from an aesthetic point of view.

The score is one continuous work, with each section—"partition"—separated by a three second measure of rest. The "Standalone" version of partition 4 has a different ending to give it a conclusion as a single work
